This is to bring to your notice that unfair business practices are being followed by the websites who provide facility for booking air tickets and allied facilities.

We booked our air tickets to travel to San Francisco to meet our elder son and our daughter-in-law through GOIBIBO on 30 March 2019 through their website.

Travel dates were as under and their booking reference.

We travelled as scheduled for our onward journey, but however due to our Brother-in-law falling seriously ill; we had to come back to Delhi as early as possible. We got the intimation on 07/08 Aug 2019.

We tried our level best on 08/09 Aug 2019 to reschedule our flight for 10th but the GOIBIBO kept replying through the emails that only return  flight cannot be rescheduled. In spite of our apprising them we have already travelled for our outward journey and return is only required to be rescheduled, the effort was in vain. We tried to speak to the representative but to no avail.

Ultimately we had to book fresh tickets for our return journey on 10/11 August night and we had to pay Rs 74000/-, which was a huge amount for us.

This kind of response by the GOIBIBO was totally uncalled for and without any compassion towards the senior citizens from the Army background.

 After returning to Delhi we cancelled the ticket with them and requested them for the refund for our return journey. They initially said the rules do not permit for the same and we have to bear the complete loss.

 

 

You will agree with me that these are not good business practices. God forbid if someone in future is required to reschedule his/her flight for some unforeseen circumstance the Airlines must oblige the customers. They could charge some nominal charges for rescheduling. It is requested that suitable instructions be passed to all concerned so that in future such kind of harassment is not faced by the customers.

A lot emails were exchanged between us and finally they offered to refund Rs 3000/- only which we refused to accept. Copies of the emails are attached.

They have caused a lot of trouble to us and harassed us terribly in the bargain.

You are requested to direct them to refund us Rs 74000/- which we spent to buy our fresh tickets. We are ready to pay the nominal charges for rescheduling as decided by the honorable court.
